A Guide to Caring for Solid Wood
Practical care tips for timber furniture and natural finishes, so they age beautifully.

Natural timber is a living surface. With a few simple habits, it will settle into its surroundings and look better with every year.
Everyday cleaning
Use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and wipe with the grain. Avoid harsh chemicals, silicone sprays and very wet cloths, which can lift or cloud the finish.
Light and heat
Direct sun will gradually warm the tone of oak and ash. Rotate objects on tabletops now and then, and keep pieces away from radiators to prevent drying.
Refreshing an oiled finish
Once or twice a year, apply a thin coat of a suitable furniture oil, leave it briefly, then buff away the excess. Always follow the care guide supplied with your piece.
